We are very happy to be affiliated with Good to the Bone Dog Training, one of New York’s most sought after, professional dog training service. Owner, Wendy DeSarno is a certified trainer, who utilizes only the most modern, reward-based training techniques.

Wendy DeSarno has had a lifelong passion for animals, so it was a natural progression for her to follow her dream and to continue her professional education at the elite SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, where she earned an honors Certificate in Training and Behavior Counseling. Wendy then went on to work as a Behavior Consultant at the ASPCA in New York, where she evaluated, trained, and rehabilitated shelter dogs so they may become eligible for adoption.

Wendy’s philosophy is one that we share; dogs are not just pets, they are valued members of our families and loving companions. So, it comes as no surprise that Wendy strongly believes in strengthening the bond between human and companion animal. For this reason, she regards training as an exercise in building relationship to achieve greater understanding and symbiosis so that people and their pets can live a harmonious life.

Ms. DeSarno has developed a number of programs and classes that will help dog owners achieve this harmony. Group classes are a great way to teach your dog to stay focused on you, even with other dogs and people in close proximity!

BASIC OBEDIENCE
This class is designed to help you better understand your dog, enhance communication, and teach your dog to make good choices. With an emphasis on impulse control, you will learn how to apply essential obedience commands, including sit, stay, come, leave-it, and loose-leash walking to your daily life. Whether this is your first attempt at training your dog, or you are building on the skills learned in previous training endeavors, you and your dog will benefit from this life-changing class while having a blast! Dogs 6 months or older are welcome.

This class meets for one hour each week for six weeks. The fee for the class is $300.

PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
Want to learn how to communicate with your new canine friend and have tons of fun in the process? 

Our classes focus on teaching bite-inhibition (gentle jaws), socialization, household manners and obedience (sit, down, come, and more!) You will learn how to housetrain your pup, as well as how to prevent and troubleshoot common behavior problems, such as barking, nipping, and chewing. Classes also include puppy playtime, where your pup will learn vital socialization skills, which can prevent fear-based aggression as your puppy matures. Owners will learn how to communicate with their pups, in order to raise a well-adjusted new member of the family! All puppies 8 weeks to 5.5 months are welcome.
